Futsum Tekle

Futsum Tekle was born in Arlington, VA and was raised in Rockville, MD spending his whole life growing up in the DMV. He is a graduating senior from the University of Maryland, College Park majoring in Economics and minoring in Global Poverty as well as International Development & Conflict Management. As a first-generation college student, during his time at UMD, he was involved with various activities on-campus ranging from being a Resident Assistant to being a Student Ambassador under the Alumni Association (Student Alumni Leadership Council).

His primary interest is in development economics and international development revolving around reducing poverty and increasing economic growth. He became interested in these topics among various others due to his heritage with his family originating from Eritrea. He is passionate about public service and fell in love with economics as a tool that can be used to improve the quality of life of people everywhere.
