April 24, 2022
Whitney Brown is pursuing a PhD in Economics at Howard University in Washington DC. She is proud to be a 2x HBCU graduate. She received her M.A. in Economics from Howard in 2020 and her B.S. in Finance and Economics from Winston-Salem State University in 2016. Whitney was born and raised in the small town of Henderson, North Carolina. She credits this to her humble upbringing and motivation to tell cultural stories through economic research.
Whitney's current research interests focus on the effects of slavery on the wealth gap and the need for reparations. In the essence of equality, she centers her studies around civil rights and the discriminatory policies throughout U.S. history.
