Shannan Burton

Shannan Burton, formerly Shannan Williford, graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park with a bachelor's degree in Economics and a minor in Global Poverty. While at Maryland, Shannan was active in the Terp community as a member of various clubs and organizations, including her sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. After graduating from Maryland, Shannan worked in various financial and business operations roles, before returning to graduate school. She went on to earn a master's degree in Financial Economics from Youngstown State University in 2021. At Youngstown, Shannan crafted a final research paper focused on the effects of economic diversification on the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. She became interested in this topic after participating in a study abroad experience in the United Arab Emirates and Qatar. Shannan enjoys watching and playing basketball, running, powerlifting, and staying active in her free time!
