AEASP 2022 Scholar Victoria Garcia

Victoria Garcia

Victoria Garcia is an undergraduate at the University of Pennsylvania.  As a freshman, she wanted answers as to why her mixed immigrant family came to the USA and why their success in this country differed so much.  She stumbled into economics and international relations and was fascinated by the frameworks that described socioeconomic inequalities at every scale, from neighborhoods to the international community.  She's used her time as an undergrad to gain a broad understanding of international history and is digging deeply into the economic and political complexities of South East Asia. As a rising senior, she aims to graduate with a major in Economics and minors in Political Science, International Relations, and Chinese language.  Victoria wants to use her experience in AEASP to motivate her undergraduate economics thesis and frame her pursuit of a PhD in international political economy.
