Alan Perez

Alan is a research assistant at the California Policy Lab, where he studies the effects of the social safety net on education and health outcomes. His previous work included research on the COVID-19 pandemic and college enrollment and the impact of universal Pre-Kindergarten on long-term economic outcomes.

Alan is an aspiring labor economist and hopes his future research contributes to the creation of equitable and efficient education policy in the U.S. He has roots in an immigrant, working-class community, from which he draws his perseverance and dedication to economic equality. Alan received a B.S. in social policy and economics at Northwestern University. He is also a member of the South San Francisco Commission on Equity and Public Safety.
