Joshua Fang (he/they) is a student at Rice University pursuing a B.A. in Mathematical Economic Analysis and Social Policy Analysis with a Data Science minor, expected May 2024. Outside of the classroom, Josh is heavily involved in promoting nonpartisan youth civic engagement at Rice and in Houston. Currently, Josh serves as the President of Civic Duty Rice, which they represent within the RICEngaged coalition of Rice University and the GenHTX initiative of Houston in Action. Combining their analytical and interpersonal competencies, Josh plans to pursue a Ph.D. in Economics/Public Policy and a career at a scientifically rigorous research institution or a government agency to inform policy-making and resource allocation in Washington, D.C. Josh is interested in studying public economics and evaluating American social safety net programs to address domestic poverty and inequality. In their free time, Josh enjoys dancing, practicing acroyoga, and drinking matcha lattes.
