AEASP 2025 Scholar Yumna Hussain

Yumna Hussain is a Mathematics-Economics major at Lafayette College with a minor in Data Science. Her research interests span public policy, investment behavior, and behavioral economics, demonstrated through her work at institutions like the University of Chicago's Booth School of Business and the National Association of Higher Education's Refugee Resettlement Initiative. As a Metrics and Data Reporting Intern at Lafayette's Office of Sustainability, she developed carbon footprint analysis methodologies. Yumna also serves as President of Refugee Action at Lafayette College, directing a comprehensive refugee resettlement program. A recipient of the Chip Bergh Fellowship and Abram I. Bluestein Internship Endowment, Yumna has presented research on gender differences in investment behavior and contributed to economic impact analyses through the Whitman Research Fellowship. Beyond academics, she strengthens her qualitative research skills through ethnographic interviewing and digital storytelling, demonstrating her commitment to amplifying marginalized voices through technology and data-driven approaches.
