Graduate Program: Math Camp & Expository Writing Exam

Welcome to the Howard University Economics Department. Every year we conduct a Math Camp for new Economics students in our Graduate program. The purpose of the Math Camp is to allow new students to refresh or learn some of the basic Math tools we use in Economics at the graduate level. The Math Camp is scheduled from August 5, 2019 to August 15, 2019 at 9:00 am to 1:00 pm in the Economics Department, Conference Room.

You are required to take the Expository Writing Exam which will be offered Friday, August 16 at 9am. This exam is only offered once a year.

I'm Tyrone Finch, from Albuquerque, New Mexico. Anticipating my graduation in Spring '24, I'll be earning my BA in Economics and BBA in Finance from The University of New Mexico. I aim to delve deeper into the realm of economics by pursuing a Master's Program at the same institution, specializing in quantitative analysis. AEASP 2024 Scholar Kevin Vega

Kevin Vega is a student at the University of Georgia pursuing a B.A. in International Affairs and Economics with an emphasis in Public Policy. Kevin is involved outside the classroom as a tutor for U-LEAD, where he helps underrepresented students in Athens-Clarke County. At UGA, he works with the PROPEL Rural Scholars program, collaborating with county officials in rural areas to advance rural development initiatives.

AEASP 2024 Scholar Mason Thieu

Mason Thieu is a third-year undergraduate at Princeton University studying economics, with minors in applied and computational mathematics; statistics and machine learning; and computer science. He is currently working on a junior research paper investigating the effect of extracurricular involvement on juvenile delinquency.

AEASP 2024 Scholar Gabriel Solis

Gabriel Solis is a junior studying Economics and Mathematics at the University of Southern California. As an aspiring economist, he hopes to harness the tools of economics to rigorously answer the questions that impact the health and welfare of vulnerable communities. He is the data science lead for Dr. Benjamin Graham's Security and Political Economy (SPEC) lab and is interested in industrial economics, health economics, and applied microeconomic theory.

Wilbens, currently pursuing a degree in Public Management at The Bush School, Texas A&M, holds a bachelor's degree in economics, specializing in statistics, from the Centre de Techniques de Planification et d'Économie Appliquée in Haiti. With a background in economics, Wilbens has worked extensively as a monitoring and evaluation specialist with various public and nonprofit organizations, including Catholic Relief Services and the Center for Facilitation of Investment in Haiti.

A third-year student at Mississippi State University studying business economics with a minor in data science. I've always been fascinated by all things economics and plan to pursue a graduate degree in the future. It seems as if every field within economics interests me to some extent, but the fields that fascinate me the most are econometrics and behavioral economics.
