AEASP 2023 Scholar Nidhi Nair

Nidhi Nair graduated from the University of Connecticut in 2022, with degrees in Economics and Mathematics-Statistics. Nidhi served as the President of the UConn Undergraduate Economics Society and as the founding director of the Invisible Hand Speaker Series, an annual conference hosted at UConn with the goal of bringing diverse scholars and researchers to speak on campus.

AEASP 2023 Scholar Michael Garcia

Michael Garcia is a senior studying Economics at the University of California, Berkeley while minoring in Public Policy. His lived experience fuels his passion for social justice. During his time at Cal, he has worked with the Berkeley Underground Scholars supporting the needs of formerly incarcerated and system-impacted individuals as a policy advocate, transfer coordinator, and ambassador coordinator. He is also an undergraduate researcher for the Latinx Research Center at UC Berkeley and has completed multiple research projects.

AEASP 2023 Scholar Alejandra Guadarrama Mojica

Alejandra Guadarrama-Mojica is a rising junior double majoring in economics and mathematics. Originally from Mexico City, she is interested in development economics and environmental economics. She plans to pursue a Ph. D. in economics to learn more about the forces that shape our world and use her skills to craft policy and do consulting work. In her free time, she likes to go running, embroider, dance, and spend time with friends. 

AEASP 2023 Scholar John Saunders

My name is John Saunders. I am a Junior at the University at Buffalo, majoring in Mathematics and Economics. My research interests currently are in salience of risk and joint decision making. I plan to pursue a Ph.D. in economics and hopefully either become a part of academia or find work in policy formation. Some interesting facts about me are, I am a cellist of 12 years and a language enthusiast. I am currently studying French, and I recently became a member of the French Honors Society Pi Delta Phi.

AEASP 2023 Scholar Kevin Bloodworth

Kevin Bloodworth is a graduating senior at the College of William and Mary, where he is studying economics. After completing the AEA Summer Training Program, he will begin working as a Research Associate at the Federal Reserve in St. Louis. His research interests include trade, economic history, and political economics. Kevin completed an honors thesis examining how foreign investment affected deforestation in Southeast Asia, using satellite imagery and statistical analysis to assess the impact on forest cover and local communities.

AEASP 2023 Scholar Adewole Adewunmi

Timothy Adewunmi is a motivated and driven individual with a passion for science and economics. He is a fourth-year undergraduate student at the University of Houston pursuing a double major in Biotechnology and Economics. Born in Lagos, Nigeria, and raised in Dallas, Texas, he has developed a unique perspective and a deep appreciation for diversity. Throughout his academic journey, he has been actively involved in various research projects and organizations that allowed him to gain hands-on experience in both fields.

AEASP 2023 Fellow Jasmine Fuller

Jasmine Fuller is an economics Ph.D. student at Howard University. She specializes in urban and environmental economics and currently serves as a fellow for NOAA Cooperative Science Center in Atmospheric Sciences and Meteorology (NCAS-M) at Howard University. Her research explores the financial consequences of climate change and other environmental issues and most recently she has worked to investigate the economic impacts of severe weather events in the U.S. Following her Ph.D.

AEASP 2023 Fellow Tonisha Luster

I am currently a Ph.D. student in the Department of Economics at Howard University. I have a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff and a Master’s of Science in Agricultural Economics from Kansas State University, were I was the first African American female to graduate from the program. I’ve worked for the federal government for over 14 years. My current research of interest is Health Economics. Upon completion of the Ph.D.

AEASP 2023 Fellow Eddie Gray

Eddie Gray is a doctoral student in the Department of Economics at Howard University. His primary research interests lie at the intersection of Urban Economics, Labor Economics, and Public Economics. He is also interested in research on the racial wealth gap, entrepreneurship among Black Americans, and the emerging equity crowdfunding sector. Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, Mr. Gray holds a bachelor’s degree in business economics from Florida A&M University and a master’s degree in Financial Economics from Middle Tennessee State University.
